How much does an initial consultation cost?

An initial 1-hour consultation is $440 (including GST). During the consultation, we'll discuss your circumstances, your legal rights and options, and the best way forward. After the meeting, you'll receive a tailored costs estimate based on your individual matter.
Do I need to be separated before I can get legal advice?

No. You can seek legal advice at any stage, whether you're considering separation, have recently separated, or have been separated for some time. Getting advice early can help you understand your rights and options before making major decisions.
What areas of family law do you practice?

I assist clients with separation and divorce, parenting arrangements, property settlements, family violence matters including restraining orders, mediation and negotiation, and family court representation.
Do I have to go to court?
Not necessarily. Many family law matters can be resolved through negotiation or mediation without the need for a final court hearing. I always explore these options first because they're often faster, less costly, and less stressful than court. If court proceedings are required, I'll guide and represent you throughout the process.

Do you offer appointments in person?

Yes. Appointments are available by appointment in Bunbury and Collie. Phone and video appointments are also available if they're more convenient for you.
What should I bring to my first appointment?

If possible, bring any relevant court documents, agreements, correspondence, financial information, or other documents relating to your matter. If you're unsure what's relevant, don't worry. We'll discuss this when you book your appointment and can guide you on what would be helpful.
How long will my matter take?
Every family law matter is different. The timeframe depends on factors such as the complexity of the issues, whether an agreement can be reached, and whether court proceedings are required. I'll provide realistic advice about likely timeframes based on your circumstances.

Will everything I tell you remain confidential?

Yes. Everything you discuss with me is confidential and protected by legal professional privilege, subject to the usual legal exceptions. Your privacy and trust matter.
Can you help if family violence is involved?

Yes. I regularly assist clients in matters involving family violence, including where it affects parenting arrangements or property matters, and applications or responses relating to Family Violence Restraining Orders. Your safety is my priority.
